Southern Industrial Supply: SAP Business One Implementation

Southern Industrial was going through the kind of growing pains that small businesses go through when they expand! They were managing their operations via QuickBooks and needed to find a solution to keep up with their long-term goals and growing customer demand.

Southern Industrial, a distribution business of specialized industrial high-performance coatings, wanted to include a full line of industrial lubricants, metal repair systems for wear and abrasion, asphalt patch and repair and more. Once the business decided it was time to move to a newer, larger warehouse it became clear that QuickBooks could no longer meet their growing needs.

Their warehouse is centrally located in Nashville, TN, which is just a 1-2 day delivery point to virtually any state in the region. They stock many of the products they sell, and most orders need to ship out the same day they are received.

Realizing the need for an enhanced system, their head of Operations, Kris Bradford, thought it may be time to explore an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution. SAP Business One emerged as the optimal software solution to meet their unique requirements, promising seamless integration without disrupting ongoing operations.

Bradford had worked with the larger-scale SAP system before, and knew there was a smaller business alternative that might work for them. SAP referred Southern Industrial directly to The Attivo Group for implementation and support. Attivo’s Sales and Operations team sat down to assess their needs and recommend a plan that could meet their immediate, as well as long-term expansion goals.

Discovery With Attivo:

The Attivo Group quickly uncovered inefficient business processes that needed enhancement and crafted a new structural framework tailored to their specific requirements, which included automating their manual processes, warehouse expansion, inventory control, logistics and supply chain management, enhanced visibility and better traceability.

Southern Industrial’s Solution included:

  1. Design of new business workflows in SAP Business One
  2. Extraction and data migration from QuickBooks into SAP Business One.
  3. Implementing a new bin location system for their new warehouse.
  4. Automating the order to cash process so that they can easily import sales orders from Shopify.
  5. Receive payments via EBizCharge so they can receive customer payments faster and easily.

The Attivo team provided detailed instruction to Southern Industrial about what a high functioning inventory and supply chain management system looks like with SAP Business One and fleshed out all the steps necessary to get them there. Southern Industrial emphasized that supply chain visibility was an immediate need and made plans to increase accounting and financial management, sales processes and more for the future.

Attivo also conducted a comprehensive review and implementation of SAP Business One’s Customer Relationship Management system.
